The local season will open on OctoIber 7.. Five senior teams —Victoria, 'Old Boys, Wanganui, Imlay, and Wanganui College—will take part in the '.Senior Cup, while in the junior grades :about nine teams will play. • The English team is scheduled to -play the second match of their toiir -there, and the fixture is likely to prove a big attraction. The combined team -fco meet them will be drawn from the "Waikato. North Taranaki, South Taranaki. Wanganui, Rangitikei, and "Monawatu Associations, which should Tesult in a strong eleven being' available. . . .

The Wanganui Cricket Association "has communicated with, the New Zealand Cricket Council asking for direct on the selection comTnittee, it being presumed that three ■selectors will be appointed. ■> ■
