OTAKEHO CLUB.

(From Our Own Correspondent.) The annual meeting of the Qtakeho Tennis Club was held on September 26, when a fair number were present. The balance-sheet showed a. good credit bal- , ance. The secretary reported that during the year a pavilion had been built at the court; also> that the school children's competitions for the club's trophies had been played off 7 the winners being Flossie Aitken and Eric Vincent. It is the club's intention to give trophies for the children's competitions again this year,, and thus help to further ihe interest in tennis.Mr. C, Fleming was again elected patron of the club. Mr. Hastie was unanimously elected president. Vicepresidents, Mr. E. Burke, Mr. Verry, Mr. Putt, Mr, Bailer, Mr. Eaves, Mr. Calvry and Mr. Young; auditor, Mr. Vincent; secretary Mrs. L. Mackie. All present were elected a committee. The opening day was fixed for October 7, and club day to be- every Wednesday, A working-bee was held at the court on Monday last, when a nmauer of very willing "bees'' turned up, the result being that by dark the court presented a very different appearance. The wire-netting round the court is to be renewed .when funds are available. The grand dance held a short time ago m aid oT the tennis club funds was a great success, nearly ,£2O being taken. This monej has enabled the committee to furnish the pavilion with a kerosene stove, kettles, crtrckery, etc., needed, for afternoon tea; also a small tank.
