HEAVY BAIL FIXED
(BY TELEGKAPH—-PRESS ASSOCIATION.) v AUCKLAND; Oct. 13. lhomas Nelson Millars, charged at th« Police Court that he made a counterfeit coin with intent to make it pass for a current silver coin, was remanded till October^'9.''-The chief detective opposed the application for bail. He said that counterfeit coin had been ciiculating throughout the Dominion for some months, and quite a lot of counterfeit coin was found on premises where the accused was arrested. He admitted that he had freely circulated counterfeit coin about the city. The charge was laid under the section of the Crimes Act which made a person et/nvicted liable to life imprisonment. Mr. Poynton, S.M., fixed bail at £1000.
