Ine arrested man, Qeorge Carpenter, was discovered by one of the police searching parties seven miles from the scene of the murders. The police surrounded a hut, which Carpenter barricaded. The latter showed fight and the police fired several shots. Carpenter then came out, badly wounded in both arms. During the firing Constable Dodd was wounded in the arm by a bullet from one of his companions' rifles. Both were removed to the Hobart hospital. Carpenter's condition is serious. - - /
