The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., have received the following cablegram from their London house under date ,10th inst.: — : Wool sales: There was a good attendance at the opening of the wool sales to-day, competition by home and French buyers being active, and; prices as compared with the close of the preceding series ruled in sellers' favour. As compared with last sales' closing rates prices are higher by about 5 to 1\ per cent, for medium and coarse greasy crossbred; prices are higher by about 1\ to 10 per cent, for merino, and higher by 10 per cent, for fine .greasy crossbred. /The opening catalogues were not representative. The Bank of' New Zealand, produce ' department, has received' the following advice from its London office, tinder date 10th inst.: The sales have opened with moderate «ompetitioTi and a large 1 attendance of buyers. There 5s a good demand for all kinds of wool. Compared with the close of last series, prices are higher as follows: AH kinds of merinos Id to lsd per Ibf; fi,he crossbred fifties, average condition, Jd to Id; medium crossbreds, forty-fours to forty-sixes, average condition, £d to Id; coarse crossbreds, thirty-sixes to i forties, average condition, Jd to id.
