MR. ASTBURY AT MANAIA

Mr. D. L. A. Astbuty, Liberal and I Labour candidate for Egmont, addressed the electors of Manaia and district in the Manaia Town Hall on Monday night. Mr. J. J. Meldon, chairman of the Manaia Town Board, preside^, and introduced Mr. Astbury, and said he hoped those present would give Mr. Astbury a good hearing, and any questions would be answerecT'a! the finish of Mr. Astbury's address. There was a very large attendance, and the candidate received a very good hearing. He spoke for an hour and three-quar-ters on the same lines as his TStham, address, recently reported,, dealing ex- ■ tensively with the Liberal platform I laid down by the Ballance and Seddon Governments. He criticised the^ present administration. At the finish of his address a number of questions were answered satisfactorily, and a hearty vote of thanks and confidence to Mr. Asfbury was moved by Mr. B. Rushin and carried by acclamation. The candidate proposed a vote of thanks to the chair," which was also carried by acclamation. After the meeting closed a committee was formed to further the interests of Mr. Astbury.
