MANAIA CLUB

The annual meeting of the.Manaia -Lawn Tennis Club was held in Mr. A. !hr. Bennett's office on Friday evening last. Mr. R. S. F. Craig presided over -a good attendance. The balance sheet <and report for the year was read and adopted. The balance sheet showed that receipts were £133 8s 6d and expenditure £133 13s 3d. The following officers were elected for ;the ensuing year: —Patron, Mr A G Bennett; president, Mr. G. H. Meuli; vice-president, Her. J. D. Smith; secretary and treasurer, Mr. L. Young; general committee, Messrs R. S. Craig, T. W. Bridge, and Mesdames Mclvor, Uonald, and Miss Wills; ground committee, Rev. J. D. Smith and Mr. L Young; club captain, Mr. C. McKay.; hon. auditor, Mr. T. W. Bridge. A number of new members were elected. The subscription was, fixed at the same as last year. The question of necessary work to -bhe ground was left in the hands of the ground committee.
It was decided to paint the pavilion. Mr. G. H. Meuli was appointed delegate to represent the club at Hawera. A vote of appreciation for the long services of Mr. Meuli as secretary was acknowledged, and same was carried by acclamation.
Votes of thanks were accorded to the president and other officers of the club, -also to Mr. A. G. Bennett for the use <*>f his office, and to the press.
