MISNAMED FIREBLIGHT.

WELLINGTON, Oct. 11. Mr. David Miller, Government entomologist, states that th© eucalyptus pest reported to be destructive in the lately stated, but gumtree scale, which was imported from Australia about Feilding district is not fireblight, as 1900 and became_very destructive in Canterbury and Otago till overcome* by a special ladybird. Last season infection became apparent in Taranaki, but fortunately the ladybird appeared there at the same time, and no doubt will get the upper hand. Ladybirds are being collected in the South Island and sent to Taranaki to hasten the process.
