THE MUDANIA CONFERENCE
QUESTION OF BOUNDARIES
ANGORA GOVERNMENT'S REPLY EXPECTED SOON. PT CABLE -PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT Received Oct. 11, 11.20 a.m. LONDON, Oct. 10. The immediate question facing the Mudania conference is the delineation ~of the neutral zo.ne. The Allies have agreed that the boundaries shall be rectified, the British remaining in Chanak, but official circles are disinclined to credit the widely circulated report ihat ihe Turks will be permitted to remain at the points where they are now stationed along the Asiatic shore. The matter has been left entirely to General Harington's discretion, and it is assumed that he will insist upon the Turkish withdrawal from all commandIng positions of strategic importance before the Greek evacuation of Thrace •commences. M. Venizelos has informed* Lord Curzon that he has. accepted the Greek 'Ambassadorship Extraordinary Ati 'Europe. CONSTANTINOPLE, Oct. 10. General Harington, in presenting the terms to Ismet Pasha, pointed jbut emphatically how the Turks could realise their national aspirations without recourse to fighting. Ismet made a conciliatory reply, but requested time to refer certain points to Angora, particularly regarding the scope of the ■neutral zone and the admission of Turk's to Thrace under Allied control. Ismet hopes to give his reply to-night.—Aus.-N.Z. Cable Assn. ,
