TARANAKI PRESBYTERY.
The Taranaki Presbytery met yesterday. I The Revs. Q. Blundell (New Ply- , : mouth), J. W. McKenzie (Stratford), ' J. D. Smith. (Manaia), and elders from Waverley, Hawera and Eltham were appointed representatives to the Gen^eral Assembly indicted to be held at Auckland on November 15. I The Presbytery carried the following resolution: "The Presbytery of Taranaki desires to protest against the utterances of Mr. Massey and Mr. Wilford regarding the Near Eastern • crisrs in so far as they involve the country in supporting the principle. 'My country, right or wrong,' and neglect of the help likelj to be afforded by the League of Kations in solving international disputes. The Presbytery j believes that our public men should do! their utmost to inculcate a high spirit ' of national honour and honesty, and . deprecate a narrow, selfish patriotism; j also that they should give every support to €he churches in their endeavour to build up a moral and spiritual foundation for the League of Nations." : ===== |
