SUCCESSFUL MEETING AT ARABATA.
BRANCH FORMED.
A representative meeting of farmers in the Ararata district was held last night for the purpose of forming a local branch of the New Zealand "Farmers' Union. The officials of the union were most enthusiastically received, and the addresses given on union matters met with the hearty approval of all present, and proved that the farmer appreciated the many benefits derivable from organisation. The Dominion organiser (Mr J. S. K. Maclennan), the provincial president (Mr. F. Mills), and the provincial" secretary (Mr G. H. Buckeridge) addressed the meeting, and at the conclusion, on the motion iof the chairman (Mr. T. A. Winks), it ; was resolved to form a branch. The following officials were elected: President, Mr. T. A. Winks; vice-president, Mr. A. Larcom; secretary and treasurer, Mr. W. Liggins; and a committee of ten. Votes of thanks to the speakers and the chair concluded the meeting.
