TWO PERSONS CHARGED. (BY TELEGRAPH —PRESS ASSOCIATION.) AUCKLAND, Sep. 7. As a sequel to a birth on a launch on August 6, Cecil Nathaniel Williams, who at the inquest admitted paternity, pleaded not guilty at the Police Court to the charge of unlawfully carnally knowing a girl aged 15 years and 7 months, and was committed for trial. The mother of the child, who was married to Williams subsequent to the occurrence, was charged with having, by failure to perform or observe a legal duty, caused the death of the infant. The magistrate dismissed the case, saying that he did not think any jury would convict.
