BOYS' AND GIRLS' ROOT GROWING COMPETITION.
(From Our Ararata Correspondent.) On Wednesday afternoon, April 26, Mr. Glasson and Mr. Johnson came to judge the varied root plots. Great interest was taken by the school children in the proceedings, and most of them, accompanied by Messrs Lundberg, Lippingwell, and Liggins, made the journey round with the judges. Margaret Wilson's crop of mangolds were very'good, and it was evident that she had put in a good deal of work. The weight for her plot was at the rate of 76 tons 6cwt 3qr per acre.
