HAWERA LADIES' CLUB
A meeting of the Ladies' Golf Club was held on Wednesday, 26th inst., in the Borough Council Chambers. The meeting was called to place on record, the very gerat loss the club had sustained in the death of their captain, Mrs R. McLean. Miss Burgess, who was in the chair, said she knew all the members were united in their appreciation of Mrs McLean's services to the club, both as secretary and as a club member. A letter of sympathy which was forwarded to Mr McLean was read, the members confirming the action of the committee in forwarding same. Miss Burgess was appointed captain for the ensuing season, and Mrs* Trench vice-captain.
New members were: Mrs Gitford Moore, Mrs H. Christie (Manaia), and Mrs Maunsell (Manaia). It was resolved that the opening day be next Thursday, May 4. A junior ana senior four-ball competition is to be held, partners to be drawn at the links.
