FOOTBALL IN SCHOOLS.

AUCKLAND, April 28. A deputation from the Rugby League waited on the Hon. C. J. Parr, requesting that school children or parents be allowed freedom of choice in regard to the football code they played. It was alleged teachers were using their influence to prevent scholars playing the League game.

Mr Parr said the officers of the Department would not take sides. He wanted to see children grou' up healthy in body by playing clean sport. He suggested the League authorities should

endeavour to convert teachers to the League game. The League had nothing to fear from the Department as far as having a clear field was concerned, but he would enquire into the matter.
