Hannan, replying to Paddon's suggested private race for a purse, notinvolving the championship, says he would require eight weeks for training, and would not race unless'the title was included. He points out that he stood down to aliow Paddon to meet Hadfield, and considers that Paddon should give him the first opportunity at the championship. In the meantime Hannan is to defend the New Zealand title against Wells in Picton Harbour on June 3.
