GOOD QUALITY CREATES DEMAND.

It works out the same with hogs and cattle, If we would cooperate in raising the best bacon hog and agree on a uniform standard, eliminating those who do not meet the. demands of the markets; if we would all unite in doing away with the scrub, bull and raise the best beef-producing animals, if we breed for beef, and only the best class of dairy cattle for th€ production of milk, if we are dairymen; if we could all agree together to do this there is no doubt in my mind but that we would be able to enlarge our market, and, by having a uniformly g«od article, we would be able to hold our place, and that successfully, in the wide markets of the world, and be able to say, with the old bulldog, "What jwe have we hold.'^ This is not written lin a spirit of criticism of our business I of the past, but with a strong desire to have us get together, every one of n»>, in an effort to better our condition ! in all our various lines of production, and by so doing make New Zealand more prosperous; because, when the farmer prospers all other lines of industry proper with him. lam sure the farmer as a whole does not wish, to pull down, but to build up, not to get an unjust, advantage over our neighbour, but to give him a square deal, and that is all we ask of o\ir neighbour. Let us then work together in harmony, so that we gain this very desirable end.
