BORDER TRUCE,
DUBLIN CONFERENCE
BY CABLE—PEESS ASSOCIATION—COPYBJGHT L.ONDON, April 12. A truce has been arranged on the Fermanagh border.
The shipbuilders'.. dispute has been settled in Belfast. The workers, including the engineers, ballotted in favour of accepting the employers' offer. Details show that the Fermanagh truce does not bind the mutinous Republicans, who hold several positions on the border.
Mr. Bennett, under manager at Harland and Wolff's, was shot while going to work this morning. Police and military were summoned, and arrested a man found in the works in possession of a loaded revolver.
LONDON, April 13. The commandants of the Ulster forces in Fermanagh and the Free State forces have agreed to institute a neutral zone in certain districts, and the forces are to be withdrawn several miles. Both undertake to punish adherents for provocative acts. Parts of the southern border line, however, are held by De Valera, who does not recognise Free State orders.
The Lord Mayors' conference assembled at the Dublin Mansion House this afternoon, but no agreement resulted, and the conference adjourned until Wednesday. It is officially announced that all parties to the conference desire no interference by way of public meetings.
