RAPPE MURDER TRIAL,
BY CABLE—PBESS ASSOCIATION—COPYBIGHT
SAN FRANCISCO, April 12,
Roseoe Arbuekle, who was standing his third trial for the manslaughter of Miss Virginia Rappe, was found not guilty.
SAN FRANCISCO, April 13
The jury in the Arbuekle case Avas absent only six minutes, deliberation on the verdict taking less than a minute, five minutes being spent in consideration of other details.
Defendant, who appeared deeply affected, received the verdict with a deep sigh of relief. Mrs Arbuekle sobbed quietly. Later she kissed the attorney (Mr MeNabb), and with her husband shook the jurors' hands.
[The sensational circumstances surrounding the death of Miss Rappe, who was a beautful cinema actress, are still fresh in the memory. Miss Rappe died suddenly after a party at the flat in Los Angeles of Arbuekle, and it was alleged that he was instrumental in causing her death. At the first two trials the jury disagreed, and a third trial was persisted in by the prosecution.]
