SPELL OF FINE WEATHER EXPECTED.

(by telegraph— phess association.) " WELLINGTON, Aril 13. The weather locally is unfavourable-* tor the holidays, heavy squalls prevailing. According to the latest report of the Dominion Meteorologist strong west. to south-west" winds and squally, change., able conditions with heavy^showers are-= expected. The barometer, however, is due to rise soon, which may indicate c% spell of, fine weather for Sunday and Monday.

Good Friday was observed quietly in, Hawera. Suitable services were held in the various churches and appropriate music was sung. The weather remained fine for the greater part of the day, butm the evening heavy rain fell, ai;d thebarometer rose several points durjng thenight. .
