Councillors and burgesses would, he hoped, appre-! ciate the position disclosed. They had accomplished what they had set out to » do, and had been muck assisted by Mr. ' Sturrock in keeping the expenditure -within the desired limits. The espendi- ' ture on the.park, £1663, was not so' ; bad as it looked. They had receipts amounting to £589 (£3OO from the late I Mr. Parkinson, £100 from the Beauti- : fymg Society, and about £80 to collect from clubs), so that their actual expenditflfre was about £1000. Cr. Reid: That is still a large amount. The Mayor: It is, but the position is not so serious as it looked. Money had been spent on the pavilions arsl in ploughing which would not Lq recurring. . Cr. Cameron said he was sorry that the chairman of the park-and reserves committee was not present to hear the discussion. I Cr. Osborne said that repairs to the bond rotunda authorised at la.st meeting had been carried out at a third cf the estimated cost.
