THE YEAR'S OPERATIONS. c

A report was oresented to the Borough Council by the town clerk (Mr Elliott) showing that the following stock had been slaughtered at the borough abattoirs for the year ending March. 31,—the figures for the previous years being given in parentheses: Cattle 1267 (1435), sheep 7121 (5100), lamu* }?lt (10, 58)' calves 199 (189>' P^s 786 (odl). Condemnations: Cattle 16 (16) caives 2 (0), sheep 11 (7), pigs' 7 (6) .tees ana rents totalled £1280 12s Id' viz., £1174 12s Id and £106, the total £?f«A rior year being £1151 3s * viz -> £1045 3s and £106, showing an increase in fees of £129 9s Id. The actual receipts and expenditure were £1279 19s and £1226 19s 7d, leaving a credit balance of £52 19s 5d on the year's working.
