BOWLING.

HAWERA CLUB

On Saturday four rinks from the Hawera Club visited Opunake and Pihama, and played matches against each club. The games at Opunake were played in the morning. Mr G Hammond, president of the Opunake Club, briefly welcomed the visitors in a happy little speech, and suggested that there should be at least annual matches between the two clubs.- Hawera came out on top after md§i interesting play by 31 points, the sedfes' being Opunake 64, Hawera 95.

After lunch the party moved on *>• Pihama, where Mr R. Lambie, senr., gave them a most hearty welcome, and expressed the pleasure it gave Pihama to have a continuance of the visits from the Hawera Club, which had always been of such an enjoyable nature. Play then commenced, and although Hawera won by a margin of 22 points there were many close and exciting heads. fo

Mr Jas. Foy, president of the Hawera Club, returned thanks at both Opunake and Pihama on behalf of the Hawera players. He stated that it would be a pleasure to have a visit trom either club at any time, although it would probably be too late this season on account of the banner finals intervening. Altogether a most enjoyable day was spent. Hawera were most hospitably entertained at both" places, and will long remember the trip to Opunake and Pjhama.
