OTAGO.

There were good supplies of sheep and lambs offered at Burnside. There was good competition, and practically all disposals were at siightly enhanced values. ; Fat cattle were in over supply, and competition was not very brisk. It was expected that in consequence of the large supply lower prices would rule before the close' of the sale. Fat Cattle—At the commencement of the sale prices were on a par with late rates, but towards the end of the sale prices advanced about 10s per head. Prime ox beef was worth up to 24s per 1001b. and cow beef down to 16s. Prime bullocks realised from £10 to £11 17s 6d, medium £8 to £9 10s, lighter kinds from £6 10s upwards. Prime heifers realised from £7 5s to £8 ss, medium £6 to £7, light and aged from £4 10s upwards.

Sheep—There was a good demand for all classes, and values advanced from Is to 2s per head above last week's rates. Prime wether mutton was worth round about 4d per pound, and ewe mutton in the vicinity of 3|d. Extra prime heavy-weight wethers realised from 28s to 30s 6d, prime 24s to 275, medium 19s to 235, lighter kinds from Ids 6d upwards. Prime ewes realised from 18s to 20s 3d, medium 15s to 17s light and aged from 11s upwards. Lambs—The offering met with a good demand at improved rates to the extent of about Is per head, prime, lambs being worth about 7d. Prices ranged from 15s to 25s 9d per head Store Cattle—A full yarding was offered. The quality generally was an improvement on that of last week's yarding. There was a slightly better demand and improved values for half tat ewes, but the market for backward steers is very slack. , A line of good forward steers, showing breeding, attracted attention, and these realised up >^o £5 15s per head.

A P*ices were a shade firmer than those which ruled at last week's ft^ eS; S e best baconers realised from 6*d to 7Jd per lb, and porkers from 7£d to od per lb.
