ELECTION RETURNS

BT CABLE—PBESS ASSOCIATION-COPYRIGHT SYDNEY, March 26. The incomplete state of the election returns on the first preference votes indicate that there are 35 Coalitionists, 7 Progressives, and' 40 Labourites. Both the Premier (Mr Dooley) and Sir George Fuller (Leader of the Opposition) are safe, while Mr Levy, the former Speaker, is, so far, well behind. Mr McGirr is leading for Sydney. Sir George Fuller states that he expects the final position of the House to be: Labour, 42; anti-Labour, 48. Mr Dooley declined to make any comment, as the figures were too incomplete.

Mr Wearne, Leader of the Coalition wing of the Progressives, is apparently secure. The voting in all the electorates has been heavy, compulsory enrolment being responsible for 103,595 more electors on the rolls than at the previous poll. _ Later figures as to the New South Wales elections show that the antiLabour parties gained six seats, and will probably win four more, giving them a majority of ten. °
