HAWESA GUN CLUB.

Another successful "quail" drive was held by the Gun Club on "Wednesday last. The mrds for the first shoot were strong and fast, and flying very low had the shooters doing their best. W. O'Brien in this shoot was the only one to get on to his birds, getting five out of six, the next best b^ing F. Casey with three. The birds had the other shooters well beaten. In the second drive the birds took a better liking to the trap and flew much higher, giving the shooters more chance, and this event was very close, H. Harrison just beating F. Casey and J. Carlson, who tied for second place. It was a pleasure to the members of the club to see so many spectators present, plainly showing that a greater interest is being taken in this fine and popular sport.

The club intend visiting Eltham for their next shoot on Wednesday, April 5, but on April 19 the public will be welcome on the Show Grounds, Hawera, for another shoot of the Gun Club. More "quail" drives, more sweepstakes and more excitement. The details of the shoot are as follows:

No. 4, first miss out —W. O'Brien, 15 yds, 1,1,2; H. Eama, 10yds, 1,1,0; F. Casey, 15yds, 1,0; J. Carlson, 10yds, 1,0; H. Harrison, 18yds, 0; P. A. Lundberg, 11yds, 0. Winner, W. O'Brien. No. 5, " quail" drive, 6 birds—H. Harrison, 1.

No. 6, first miss out —P. A. Lundbere 25yds, 1,1; W. O'Brien, 25yds, 2,0; h! Harrison, 25yds, 0; J. Carlson, 25yds, 0; F. Casey, 25yds,. 0. Winner, P. A. Lundberg.

It may be mentioned that the reason for so many first miss out shoots and no cup shoot last week was that the trapper had a great deal of trouble in getting a good bird away at all. In fact the club really got only about 130 out of a cask of 660 birds, which was a great annoyance to the shooters,
