CARNIVAL MINSTRELS
The Carnival Minstrels from Eltham paid a visit to Okaiawa last Wednesday and put on a good programme to a [ moderate house. The entertainment opened with the minstrels, in which Messsr E. Thomas and G. Warrender took the part of first and second Bones, while Messrs F. Lunn and W. O'Neill were first and second Tambos and sup- | plied the comic element. Mr. Ben 1 Johnstone was an efficient centre man, , and in addition sang two solos in good I style. Some of the jokes were, quite ! good, but the performers were handii capped m not having any local hits, which are so popular at these entertainments. After the interval the audi. ence were delighted with the Highland dances of little Miss Gower, who had to respond to an encore. Piper Hamilton kept the audience amused with his comic Scotch songs, and had to return to the stage several times. The Rev. J. A. Hosking, Messrs B. Johnstone, H. Reynolds, and W. O'Neill contributed solos to the programme, and Mr. E. Thomas gave a mandoline solo for which he was recalled. \ ST, AIDAX'S CHRYSANTHEMUM j SHOW. i A meeting of parishioners of Jst. ; "Aidan's Church was held last Monday evening, Mr. J.
