A principle Jaid down by, Mr Justice Salmond at the Supreme Court in con. nection with the granting of divorces under section 4 of the Act aroused particular interest a few days ago. His Honor, in his judgment m regard to a petition for the dissolution of a marriage under ihe section, held that the allowance of <£120 which was proposed for . women was inadequate and therefore he/ deferred the granting of a decree until an arrangement had been made between the parties^ Counsel on Saturday announced that such an arrangement had been made, and his Honor granted a decree niei upon the usual terms,.making a stipulation that maintenance should be n6i only for the joint lites of the parties, but that after the. death of the«husband provision should be made for respondent. ■-■.-•■ -^ v > >
