; It was cabled recently that in "a? bowiing tournament under the management of Brownswood Club, England,Mr Orchard, the crack ChristcnurcH (i\.Z.) player, won the first prize. He defeated the English champion, Mr: Irvine Watson, in the final by 21 to 16. ■ • " .■::'-.-...,:^-^'-^^ The Auckland Bowling World, wrik ing of . a well-known' northern player, says:- "Mr A. Parsons is a player pf the consistent type. : He-showed great promise the year he joined Pohsonby Club; 1904, and before the season was over was a/member of the i Ponsonby Club's first-yea* fours, which i acted as runners-iip ,in the Auckland Provincial Bowling Association's ; tour- i nainent. He first made his mark-in 1907, when he won the Ponsohby^ Club's champion singles ~. and >. pairs matches.' He repeated the perform-1 ance in 1908, and added: to his listWard's special prize for winning ihe Ponsonby Club's handicap singles. That season.,he won in the North • Island subscription pairs. In 1909 he won the Ponsonby Club's singles championship, j and in 1910 the Auckland Provincial i Bowling Association's champion pairs', j He had a great season in 1911. He won the Ponsonby Club's singles and; pairs, and was one of the team which acted as runner-up for the club fours. He skipped a rink, of Harkins, Crabtree, Smith and himself, which acted as runners-up for the North Island champion fours. Last; year He won the Ponsonby Club's pairs and fours, and was runner-up for the^ champion singles. He also won the Auckland Provincial Bowling Association's champion singles match."
