In reference to the appointment of New Zealand and Australian delegates to the Armament Conierence, there is a feeling of satisfaction manifested here. Their reception will be the warmest. Nowhere in America is Australia's r position better understood than in official quarters at Washington. While Senator Pearce and Sir John Salmond are not personally widely known, it is pointed, out in the case of Senator Pearce that he is a man who nominally occupied the supervising of Australia'a -defence, and is particularly suitable to participate in the discussion respecting trie limitation of armaments.
