LADIES' TOURNAMENT

TARANAKI DEFEATED

PALMERSTON N., Sept. 14

To-day's results at the ladies' hockey tournament are:—Hawke's Bay A beat Taranaki, 2 goals to 1; Wairarapa and Wanganui played a draw, neither scoring ; Poverty Bay beat Manawatu A by 2to 1; Feilding A, a bye; Otago 6 beat Nelson 1; Wellington 10 beat Manawatu B nil; Auckland beat Marlborough by 1 to 0; Hawke's Bay B, a bye. The Hawke's Bay-Taranaki game # was particularly - keen, and the rallies on both sides created great excitement among the large crowd of spectators. Taranaki's o»ly goal was scored by Miss Ward from an opening by Miss Knapman. Misses Mayo and McLean scored for the winners.
