CORRESPONDENCE

BOROUGH INSPECTOR

(To the Editor.)

Sir, —I see by the Star that an inspector, for the borough has been selected from Auckland (and judging by uhis- name he will be welcomed by a section of the. community). I do not .for -a moment doubt his ability, but why' do we need to get a man,.outside ■our town. I understand there were & large number of applicants for the position, and among them one who has lived in Hawera a quarter of a century -and who would surely have the interests of the' town at heart; but he, as well as others, was .passed over 'for a, -complete stranger, as is invariably the case in Hawera.

An inspector we want for the borough, We've looked for him up hill and down; His work' must be well done and thorough, But he cannot be found in our town. Thanking you,—l am, etc..
