INDIA
STATUS OF CITffiENSHIP.
BY CABLB-PBBBB ASSOCIATION— COPYEIGHT
LONDON, Aug. 12. Lord Montague, in an interview with the Australian Press Association, said the Imperial Conference contributed largely to the good relationship with India, especially the recognition of the status of citizenship. We will long remember Messrs Hughes, Massey and Meighen for their ready acceptance of India as a sister Commonwealth, and the Imperial atmosphere which marked their contributions to the discussions. They put before the conference their views of special circumstances in their respective States, and their determination to harmonise these with the interests of the Empire. He hoped the whole Empire would ultimately accept Indain citizenship. The Governments of Australia and New Zealand assured Mr Sastri of a cordial welcome when he visited Fiji.
Mr Hughes invited him to discuss the matter with the Australian Parliament.
