OFFERS WITHDRAWN.
• CHANGE IN DAIRY SITUATION
(By Telegraph—Special to the Star.) WELLINGTON,. Aug. 11. . A weakening in the Home quotation for butter and cheese has resulted in New Zealand representatives of buyers ceasing temporarily to continue their offers, which up till to-day they had been pressing. Early cable messages received from their principals yesterday, conveying instructions to buyers to withdraw, also stated that the New Zealand cheese market in London had fallen to an average of 130s per cwt., whereas a week ago the price ranged from 136s to 140s. On this and other events all limits were withdrawn. Canadian cheese prices are cabled as having dropped 10s' to 15s per cwt. during the past few days, and buyers have been advised also that not~only has the drought all over the northern hemisphere broken, but large shipments have arrived on top. of one another from both New Zealand and Canada. Buyers at the other end in these circumstances are showing no eagerness to buy on the spot or forward, and the market has suddenly assumed a lower tendency. Butter buyers have also retired for the time being. They were not eager to buy for' shipment beyond September in any case, but they had bought at Is' ll|d up to 2s Id. A rough average up to now for early shipment would be* 2s.
