CLASSIFICATION LIST ISSUED

(BY TELEGRAPH PRTCSS ASSOCIATION^ WELLINGTON. July 12. The Public Service classification list has^ just been issued and is being examined with much interest in the Government Departments. Very many of the salaries, particularly in the middle grades, are unaltered arid the list shows evidences of the demand for economy in the Public Service. Fairly substaiitial increases in salary have been granted, however, to the senior officers in some of the departments. Among the increases are the following: Secretary to the Public Service Commission, £700 to £760; Insnector. Public Service Commission, £600 to £700; Chief Clerk, Public Service Commission, £550 'to £600; Chief Clerk Treasury Department, £600 to £650; seven audit inspectors, Audit Department, £600 to £650; Secretary Public Service Superannuation Office, £600 to1' £650; commanders Government steamers, £700 to £750; Dominion Analyist, £850 to £950 j Director Dominion Museum, £800 to £850; architect Public .Works Department, £850 to £900; Assistant Engi-neer-in-Chief Public Works Department,, £900 to £950; Superintendent Government Printing Office, £600 tc £650.
