The probabilities of a conference between General Harrington and EemaJ are unlikely, owing to the latter's arrogant attitude in demanding the acceptance of conditions preliminary to a conference, which is regarded as impossible. ' These include the Gi*eek evacuation of Smyrna, and wliat practically amounts to a status quo ante bellum as regards both Turkey jn Europe and As^a Minor.
