SCHOOL COMMITTEES

* MEETING IN HAWERA. A meeting .of members of school committees in South Taranaki was held in ! the Technical School on Saturday. Mr. Hobbs was voted to the chair. j Mr. S. G. Smith, M.P., president of the Dominion Association, gave a brief. ! but interesting address on the work of j I'the association, and demonstrated the ! need for all school committees being! banded together. Mr. R. Masters, ' M.P., also addressed the meeting. J I After several questions had been satisfactorily answered/ Mr. A. Lees I moved: ' 'That this meeting affirms the ( . .necessity of establishing a branch of 1 ; the School Committees' Association in ' f South Taranaki, and that the Hawera j j School Committee be asked to convene , another meeting of school committees j to.consider and deal with the establishI ment of a branch."—Seconded by Mr. L. A. Taylor and carried. Mr. Smith stated that he would be pleased to come, down and address the | meeting, and at future meetings would endeavour to get experts to speak on various subjects in connection with school work. Mr. Smith conveyed the thanks of all present to the principal and Mrs. Gray, who had kindly provided refreshments. Thanks were also passed to Messrs Smith and Masters for their very effective addresses. It is hoped that a very large number will be present at the next meeting, and that a strong branch of the association will be established.
