AN OLD DISPUTE.
APPEAL AGAINST CONVICTION.
CBt TKLBOEAP»»—-Tn^RS «4WOnT*T»O.V. >l AUCKLAND, July 4. The Arbitration Court to-day reserved its decision in an appeal by W. Tighe against his ■obnviction floir $>ei,ns a. party to an alleged strike on the Mo^ koia at Lyttelton on July 12, 1920, when, as an outcome of the jockeys' dispute, the crew refused to Bail with Sir George Clifford. Appellant's counsel contended that it had never been proved that Tighe was a member of the watch involved when a deputation informed the captain they would not sail. If he were, the utmost that could be said was that there was a threat to discontinue work. If the Legislature intended a threat to. strike to be an offence it would have expressed that intention in exact terms. -The conviction of 22 others hinges on the appeal.
