It will be remembered that as an outcome of persistent requests made by .Hawera people the Railway Department recently agreed to try the experiment of attaching a passenger carriage at I atea to the goods train from the south that reaches Hawera about 9 o'clock in the morning. It ivas contended that " 'this were done it would be a oonv(|nienoe to school children particularly, and the experiment appears to have been justified. The other morning 37 passengers alighted at Hawera platform from this train, 30 school children and seven adults. As the service becomes more generally known the passenger traffic from between Patea and Hawera is bound to steadily increase. A MUSICAL TREAT FOR EVERYONE.
