HIDE AND TALLOW REPORT

Messrs Dalgety and Co. report: The usual fortnightly sales of skins, hides, and tallow were hold this afternoon. Medium catalogues were put forward to an average attendance of buyers. i Sheepskins—Long wools were in bet- ; ter demand, and showed an advance of fully Id per Ib, while salted skins were jld to 3d. lower. Inferior, damaged, and seedy lots were hard to dispose of. Hides—There was a good demand for well-conditioned heavy ox of good substance, but unfortunately the catalogues contained "only small quantities. Kip and yearlings were keenly enquired for, and showed a slight improvement on last sale's prices. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., report: There was fairly good competition from the usual attendance of buyers.
