(From Our Own Correspondent.) Constable Townsend arrested a young man" named George William James at jj ■ Taumata Park on Saturday, accused of B stealing %a' Stetson hat, value £4 4s, H from Hallenstein Bros. The accused X (who was alleged to be in an intoxiW - cated condition i when arrested) went -..;.• into the H.B. and asked to get a look at some "caps, but stated he would call again. When he had gone the hat was missed and Constable Townsend was, _~- notified. On being searched the hat \j was found in his hip poqket, and eight ! Bilk handkerchiefs, also the property *a of the H.B. were found. The accused, A. who will be brought before the local Justices this* morning, is engaged on the public works at Te Roti. Owing to largely increasing business since opening in Eltham, the Bon i v.
