A WONDERFUL COW RECORD.

Have we reached the limit in milk production among dairy cows? A few years ago we thought 20,000 pounds of milk in a year was about the limit, but this has been gradually increased to 25,000, then to 30,000, and recently a semi-official year-test of 37,381 pounds of milk and 1158.945 milk-fat has been made by a pure-bred Holetein cow named Segis Pieterje Prospect, owned in the United States. Her record by months, from December 1919 to December 1920 is:

Total 365 days 37381.4 3.10 1158.945 In addition to the wonderful yields of milk and milk-fat, notice the comparatively low percentage of fat in this cow's milk. Her highest full month average test was 3.31 for the months of May and June, and the average percentage of fat in her milk for the whole year is 3.1. Yet in Ipite of this handicap she produced over 1001b of fat per month during five months of her year-test. When we consider that two pounds of fat daily is no meW record, we get some idea of, her wonderful butter production.
