In connection with the statement that Sir James Allen was despatching 1000 ex-service men to New Zealand, Mr Alfred Davies in the House of Commons drew the attention of the Secretary foV\ the Colonies to the re^ port that unemployment in New Zea? land was general and that the Government was unable to find housing for its own employees. j 'She Hon. Mr Amery, in reply, sa^ that Sir Jame3 Allen had taken steps -to see that only such ex-service men ias had definite guarantees of employj ment and housing would be allowed to , proceed.
