The shipping strike has now tied up 85 per cent, of the vessels in this port. Only four of the thirteen ships which were, scheduled to sail during the last twenty-four hours were able to depart. Two nuriF hoats unsuccessfully tried to sail. There are similar 'reports from other ports.

The United States Shipping Board ordered that p.ll its crews must either sign articles at reduced wages or leave the ships.

On the other hand the unions are gradually extending the strike to New York. * . '
