LAW TO BE TIGHTENED UP. j

WELLINGTON, May 6. "We are going to tighten up the law next session," said the Minister of Justice when questioned about the bookmakers yesterday. He added that the police had shown much activity in the enforcement of the law against bookmakers, although he recognised, that the professional betting men had ' not been put out of Jbusiness. The ■■ position, as far as the law was concern- | ed, was that bcokmaking was an unlawful occupation. There had been no
weakening on the part of those in authority. The law Mas intended to be enforced. , „.
