Mr David Jones, president of the Farmers' Union, has received from the Minister of Agriculture (the Hon. W. Total,-9111 acres. In Otago 332 acres are planted in Oamaru, as against 413 last season. Ihe decrease here is' stated by Mr W ?' I Sno l wrbalI > District 'Superintendent) to be due to labour and expenses and uncertainty of prices. The usual area of 40 acres has been planted in Kurow, and there are about 80 acres in Palmerston, the latter not being a potato-growing district. Many Palmerston farmers grow scarcely sufficient for their own requirements. The area this season is about the same as last year. i
