r rim . . SYDNEY, Dec. 15. The latest reports from the wheat centres indicates . that the damage, though undoubtedly serious, is not so extensive as was anticipated. The ■weather is now fine and given a continuance, much grain which appeared to nay© been lost may, "with care and patience, be recovered. In some cases the continued rain has caused the germination of the ripened wheat, but not extensively. The pessimism which marked the earlier reports has greatly lessened. The growers are facing the situation courageously and resourcefully. At the Anglican 'Synod, Archbishop Wright explained the recent Lambeth declaration regarding the union of churches. He made a forcible and eloquent appeal for the reunion ot Christendom.
The Board of Trade decided that the living wage of £4 5s would in future apply to the whole State, instead of as at present to certain counties.
MELBOURNE, Deb. 15. The conference of marine stewards and owners proved abortive. It is now anticipated that the dispute win spread to all the States.
