RE PRESTON'S COW DETECTOR.

(Published by arrangement.) : Sir,—ln connection with the sale of this plant to Waimate West Demonstration Farm Committee, I wish to state that, owing to the deputy-chairman not being present at last meeting of committee, held December 9, they were not fully aware of his action in promising, on behalf of the committee, to purchase the plant. The committee decided to defer purchase of same, but now, after hearing the deputy-chairman's explanation, it has been decided to purchase the plant. It is to be understood* however, that the. committee, although having purchased this plaint, are quite prepared to allow other machines for a. similar purpose to be demonstrated on the farm.—For the committee, THOS.
