PRESS CONFERENCE

PROGRAMME OUTLINED.

Arriving late in the evening, the Australasian journalists were welcomed informally by the Vancouver Institute of Journalists.

The conference will be opened by Lord Burnham, and will continue throughout the afternoon of August 4 with a discHSsion on the Empire Press Union. On August 6 "Empire Partnership" will be the only general topic for the morning session. On August 7 the subject for the morning session will be ■"Empire Trade," and that for the afternoon "The Press and Post-War Problems."

The pre-arranged schedule of the Australasian journalists has been discarded. The party will remain here a few days, and will then break up, crossing the continent in a leisurely fashion and reassembling at Montreal on July 31 to meet the British journalists and proceed to Ottawa for the conference as previously scheduled. Afterwards all the delegates will cross Canada westward in two trains de luxe.
