CHINESE CIVIL WAR
PEKING, July 18. The Chihilites were severely defeated by the Anfuites. Six thousand of the latter hastily retreated toward Peking and are now' looting at Nanyuan, a few miles from the capital. All gates of the capital have been closed. It is reported that the Chihilites recaptured Yanthun.
The French captured the members of the Council who were proceeding to Europe to state their case.
